Medal Design
Large and ornate multi-ray breast star composed of alternating gilt metal and multi-colour enamel rays in red, yellow, white, and blue.
The central medallion features a hand-enameled depiction of a seated striped tiger against a landscape background symbolizing strength, courage, and martial authority in early Republican China. Two small stars positioned at the 12 o’clock point denote the II Class grade.

Gilt metal reverse retaining the original period pinback system with dual stabilizing hooks. The star bears maker hallmarks including the ZHI workshop stamp and Chinese maker cartouche.
Historical and Collectible Significance
The Order of the Striped Tiger (虎章勳章) was established in 1912 following the founding of the Republic of China. The decoration was awarded for distinguished military service and contributions to the early development of Republican armed forces.
The II Class represented one of the senior grades of the order and was awarded to accomplished military officers and distinguished recipients, including both Chinese and foreign personnel.
