Description:
A wartime issue of the Cross of Valour (Krzyż Walecznych) produced in London by the Polish Technical Group (Grupa Techniczna), responsible for manufacturing decorations for the Polish Armed Forces in the West.
Obverse bears the inscription “NA POLU CHWAŁY 1920” with crowned eagle at center.
Reverse features the inscription “WALECZNYM” with a sword and laurel wreath motif.
Typical of the London production, this cross exhibits slightly rounded arms, a flat reverse surface, and precise, crisp lettering.
Condition:
Excellent original patina with light service wear.
Ribbon with period pin-back mount — typical of PSZnZ decorations worn on uniforms.
No cleaning or restoration; well-preserved example.
Historical Note:
During WWII, Polish decorations were reissued for members of the Polish Armed Forces in the West (PSZnZ).
The Technical Group in London produced crosses using original dies modeled on interwar versions.
These pieces were awarded for acts of gallantry in combat alongside Allied forces in North Africa, Italy, and Western Europe.
